12 positions. One standardized diagnostic.
This research prototype studies how advanced players generate and select candidate moves. It is not a rating test and gives no feedback during the assessment.
No name or email is required to take the assessment. By starting, you agree that pseudonymous move/response data and basic session activity (start, progress, completion and last-seen signals) may be submitted to the research project and used to evaluate and improve this prototype. After completion, you may optionally leave a contact method if you want individual feedback or a follow-up invitation.
Your progress is saved locally on this device while the assessment is in progress, so you can close the page and resume later.
Only legal moves are enabled. Click a piece that can legally move, then click one of its highlighted destinations.
Your candidate moves
Candidate 1: the first move you seriously consider worth calculating or playing. Candidates 2–3: other serious alternatives that genuinely enter your consideration while you analyze. You do not need to enter three moves. If only one move feels genuinely worth considering, enter one. Do not add filler moves just to reach three.
Assessment complete.
Your answers are submitted automatically. Please save your result code below if you may want to refer to this assessment later. Do not compare engine answers yet if you plan to do the blind follow-up.
Submitting your pseudonymous response…
If automatic submission fails, you can use the manual JSON upload page.

The first assessment gives only a preliminary picture. Leave one way to contact you and I’ll invite you to a short blind follow-up with 10 completely new positions. The follow-up comes before your profile because seeing the profile first could influence how you solve the new positions. After the follow-up, I’ll send you your individual preliminary decision profile.
